Position Summary

The Extensive Needs Integrated Pathway (“Extensive Needs Service”, “ENS”) proof of concept program is a specialized support program to provide clinical services to children with extensive needs (multiple and/or complex special needs) and their families. The program provides multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary services that can include adjusting medications, personalized behaviour support plans, mental health assessments and treatment, supports for families (e.g. co-ordinated service planning and social work), and specialized interventions to support children and youth to build skills such as communication and self-regulation. A multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary team provides individualized treatments and supports that focus on effectively working together with families and current care teams to enhance capacity, reduce challenging/interfering behaviours, and treat underlying health concerns. Services support the child/youth to build skills (e.g., communication, self-regulation, etc.), as well as support the family, local service providers, and educators to learn skills and strategies to support the child in their home, school, and community. Additionally, the service will support the family as a whole, including siblings as needed.

Qualifications

  • M.S.W., M.A.;
  • Registered as a Social Worker with the College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers or Registered with the College of Psychotherapists;
  • 2 years’ clinical experience
  • Experience working with children/youth with sexualized or sexually interfering behaviours
  • Experience and / or training in evidence-based therapeutic interventions in assessments, individual, family and group therapy, and brief solution focused treatment;
  • Familiarity with offering services via virtual platforms (i.e. email, text, online counselling) would be considered an asset;
  • If direct virtual supports are unfamiliar then an understanding of the various forms of virtual care, as well as an understanding of clinical and privacy responsibilities would be an asset;
  • Bilingual in (French and English) is preferred;
  • Experience working with the Indigenous population is an asset;
  • Good communication and organizational skills;
  • A current Vulnerable Sector Police Records Check within the last six (6) months;
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, able to supply own vehicle, and be insurable to drive in Ontario
