Youth Mental Health Court Work – EIP (Early Intervention Program)
The Youth Mental Health Court Worker advocates, supports and provides referrals for youth who have come into contact with the youth criminal justice system and present with mental
health, addictions and/or developmental issues.
The youth mental health court worker can make referrals to a therapist who can then provide immediate service and treatment to youth involved in the Early Intervention Program. The youth mental health court worker liaises with a variety of community partners including, defense counsel, crown counsel, schools, FACS, police, CASON, Youth Resources Niagara, the hospital among others for the purposes of a well-rounded community treatment plan.
The Early Intervention Program is also involved with the NYCSI (Niagara Youth Court Screening Initiative) screening process at all youth court dates in both St. Catharines and Welland court locations.
