Family Intervention

The Family Intervention Team provides Individual and Family Therapy for clients aged 6-18 regarding a broad range of mental health challenges. This program is an Outpatient service with clients attending therapy at one of Pathstone Mental Health sites. The Family Intervention therapist will work with children/youth and families to collaboratively identify realistic goals for therapy and the types of intervention that the client and family feel comfortable with and have been shown by research to be effective. The success of therapy will depend upon the client and family working closely with the therapist on the goals and may necessitate working with other community partners to provide assessment, medication or resources. Therapy often involves learning new ways of dealing with problems so the client and family have to be sure they are ready to engage in some sort of change. Therapy is not about the therapist fixing problems but about introducing clients to new ways of thinking and approaching challenges.
