Counsellor – Nights LITS (40 hours) TFT

Contract Position – 18-20 months | 40 Hours per week, (11:00 p.m. – 9:00 a.m.) | Sunday – Wednesday | This is a unionized position | $24.23 – $28.38 Per Hour

This is a 12-week live in program for youth aged 12-18 years old – located in Niagara Falls.  The youth who attend this program have been identified with a mental health and/or behavioural concern that impacts them individually and within their family unit. Your main role during your shift will be to support youth with therapeutic skills/strategies if they wake and are experiencing difficulties with emotions; to connect with Security hourly; to complete Nightly checklists; upload outstanding documentation; Securing of the house; room checks and to support Day staff with morning routines (i.e., wake-ups and medication).

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Child and Youth Care Worker Certificate, Social Services Worker Diploma, or equivalent;
  • 1-2 years experience working with children and youth, preferably in a live-in treatment environment;
  • Knowledge and experience in crisis intervention;
  • Good communication and organizational skills, as well as analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Current Police Records Check within six (6) months;
  • Current certification in First Aid and CPR, TCI and Safe Food Handling;
  • Valid Driver’s License, able to supply own vehicle and be insurable to drive in Ontario;
  • Meets medical requirements under the Child and Family Services Act, Regulations for Licensing of Live In Treatment facilities;
  • Bilingual in (French and English) is preferred;
  • Experience working with the Aboriginal community is an asset
