Position Summary
This position reports directly to the Property Team Lead. The Facility Maintenance Coordinator has the responsibility to coordinate and perform housekeeping, maintenance, general repairs, security and other assigned duties at these 4 locations:
- 1338 Fourth Ave., St. Catharines (The Branscombe Centre)
- 1604 Merrittville Hwy., Welland (Mountainview)
- 6432 Thorold Stone Rd., Niagara Falls (Rotary House)
- 102 River Rd, Welland (River House)
The Facility Maintenance Coordinator works thirty-five (35) hours per week, which may include day, evening or weekend hours.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
General Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supports housekeeping and chemical supply inventories;
- Ensures regular collection removal of rubbish and recycling;
- Provides cleaning and sanitation services in absence of the cleaning contractors;
- Provides support to property team to cleaning contractors;
- Moving furniture and equipment;
- Climbing ladders and going into crawlspaces as needed;
- Gathering tools and supplies, and bringing them to the worksite;
- Finding ways to reduce costs of equipment and supplies;
- Creating invoices and receiving payments from customers;
- Driving van with supplies to work sites;
- Checking inventory and ordering supplies when needed;
- On-call rotation.
Maintenance:
- Performs general maintenance and preventative repairs inside and outside of facilities as required;
- Support staff with minor day-to-day maintenance issues;
- Proactively identifies maintenance and repairs that require outside service contractors;
- Supports Property Team of acceptable levels of potable water at Mountainview;
- Ensures parking lots and grounds are well-maintained year-round through supervision of the outside service contractor;
- Ensures preventative maintenance and repairs are made to HVAC systems;
- Keeping maintenance area storage organized, neat and clean.
- Become proficient in the various heating and cooling software (B.A.S. and Verasys)
Security:
- Lead team member on all matters related to fire safety, fire plan, and emergency evacuation, including onsite response;
- Performs regular testing of panic alarm and personal duress system at The Branscombe Centre;
- Responds to calls from security & fire monitoring company;
- Become proficient in the security program ICT (desktop as well as app).
Organizational Responsibilities:
- Adheres to the Organizational Policies and Procedures of Pathstone Mental Health;
- Maintains documentation and records in accordance with established policies and standards;
- Participates in staff and regular service meeting as required;
- Participates in relevant in-service training/conferences/seminars and workshops for the purpose of professional development within service plan goals and financial limits;
- Participates in the setting and implementation of organizational and individual goals and objectives;
- Excellent customer service skills;
- Good written and verbal communication skills;
- Flexible to respond to emergency after hours;
- Other duties as assigned.
Health and Safety Responsibilities:
- Maintain Fire Plans for all facilities;
- Assume responsibility for a safe work environment and safe working practices;
- Works in a safe manner and maintains a safe and orderly work environment;
- Report unsafe situations and conditions to Property Team Lead for resolution.
Qualifications
- Two to three (2-3) years of supervisory experience in building maintenance;
- Experience with painting, carpentry, light plumbing, repairing dry wall, and general repair work;
- Familiar with ordering and record keeping;
- Flexible and able to work well with others;
- Physically capable of lifting, carting, and climbing, using tools and equipment;
- Current Police Records Check within 6 months;
- Bilingual (French and English) is preferred;
- Valid Driver’s License and insurable to drive in Ontario;
- Basic computer keyboarding and MS Office skills required.
